I Can’t Believe It’s Not Marshmallow, Post Workout Protein Powerfood
This is a high protein, stick to your bones snack that is sooo tasty you will think they are having dessert. If you choose your ingredients right, this little piece of heaven will have a light whipped texture, with a hint of vanilla, and you will swear you are eating marshmallows.
But guess what, when you eat this little piece of heaven, you are secretly having an amazing post-workout recovery snack. Cottage cheese contains the amino acid glutamine which is particularly valuable for muscle recovery, not to mention the calcium and protein (15g per 1/2 cup) to support bone and muscle growth. Add cocoa nibs and some fruit and you getting a great dose of fibre as well as a great natural boost to help you recover some of that energy you just spent.
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese (Trader Joe's Low Fat Cottage cheese is my favorite)
- 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup fruit of your choice
- agave to taste
- 2 tbsp cocoa nibs, for a nutrient rich chocolatey crunch (optional)
- 2 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
Combine cottage cheese, yogurt, vanilla, fruit and agave
NOTE: If adding chia seeds let stand for 15 minutes before eating
